PPP, PML-Q Vow To Uphold Media Freedom


Governor Punjab slammed the passage of resolution against media in the Assembly today. Talking to Dunya News, Salman said that free media is vital for the sustenance of democracy in the country. Earlier, in an unprecedented move, Punjab Assembly unanimously ratified a resolution, floored by PML-N member Sanaullah Masti Khel, against media on Friday (today).
The motion carried the allegations that media organizations played vulgar Indian songs behind women MPAs footage.
Interestingly, no assembly member opposed the said resolution. The assembly also denounced the programmes being aired on the MPAs.
On the other hand, the mediapersons, sitting in the gallery, immediately left Punjab Assembly and boycotted the proceedings. Later, the journalists hold a peaceful demonstration outside the Assembly. The mediamen raised slogans against gagging of media when CM Shahbaz came out of the House, who left the venue sans talking to them.

PML-Q voted against resolution: Pervaiz Elahi
PML-Q’s senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that his party voted against the resolution against media. He said that Chaudhry Zaherruddin opposed the resolution against the media, and added that PML-Q always stood by media and upheld its freedom.
Resolution against PML-N policy towards media:Pervez Rasheed
PML-N Pervez Rasheed, while talking to Dunya News said that the resolution against the media does not depict PML-N policy regarding media. He said that the resolution might be a brainchild of Sanaullah MastiKhel alone. He asserted that Nawaz League always stressed upon media freedom.
