111 injured, 70 killed in Mohmand suicide attack

PESHAWAR,Pakistan News : The suicide attack in Yaka Ghand area of Mohmand Agency Friday killed 70 people and injured 111 others.

Outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have claimed the responsibility of the attack. TTP spokesman Ikramullah Mohmand telephoned Geo News from unknown location and claimed the responsibility of the attack, saying the target were members of the Ambar Aman Committee who were present in Assistant Political Agent’s office at the time of the attack.

Sources said a suicide bomber blew up himself outside political agent’s office in Tehsil Yeka Ghand at 9:30 am on Friday. The high intensity blast, heard across a wide radius, completely destroyed 30 shops in Yaka Ghand bazaar including two hotels while roof of a nearby house caved in.

Political Agent Amjad Ali Khan told media that 65 people were killed and 104 wounded in the incident.

Four personnel of Khasadar Force are also among the dead. According to sources, several inmates escaped after the blast that brought down Yaka Ghand jail building.

Most of the injured are in critical condition and more deaths are feared.

Landlords Are Above The Law In Pakistan: Altaf

MQM chief Altaf Hussain said that double standard has been witnessed at every level in the country while big landlords are above the law. In a telephonic address in a seminar on inflation, he said that the country is passing through difficult times but landlords and industrialists are becoming rich day by day. He said that the poor are committing suicide due to abject poverty and inflation and giving poison to their children. He appealed to the poor parents to show courage and face the challenges. Altaf condemned the terror attack in Momhand Agency.

PPP, PML-Q Vow To Uphold Media Freedom

Governor Punjab slammed the passage of resolution against media in the Assembly today. Talking to Dunya News, Salman said that free media is vital for the sustenance of democracy in the country. Earlier, in an unprecedented move, Punjab Assembly unanimously ratified a resolution, floored by PML-N member Sanaullah Masti Khel, against media on Friday (today).
The motion carried the allegations that media organizations played vulgar Indian songs behind women MPAs footage.
Interestingly, no assembly member opposed the said resolution. The assembly also denounced the programmes being aired on the MPAs.
On the other hand, the mediapersons, sitting in the gallery, immediately left Punjab Assembly and boycotted the proceedings. Later, the journalists hold a peaceful demonstration outside the Assembly. The mediamen raised slogans against gagging of media when CM Shahbaz came out of the House, who left the venue sans talking to them.

PML-Q voted against resolution: Pervaiz Elahi
PML-Q’s senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that his party voted against the resolution against media. He said that Chaudhry Zaherruddin opposed the resolution against the media, and added that PML-Q always stood by media and upheld its freedom.

PML-N Pervez Rasheed, while talking to Dunya News said that the resolution against the media does not depict PML-N policy regarding media. He said that the resolution might be a brainchild of Sanaullah MastiKhel alone. He asserted that Nawaz League always stressed upon media freedom.

Fake Degree Issue Creeps Up, PML-N Leading The Race

The count of politicians having fake degrees is growing, as five more cases of fake degrees have been unveiled. The five latest case of a parliamentarians being found to be in possession of a fake degrees is among many cases of fake degrees in the recent past.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) is leading the race with the highest number of MNA’s and MPA’s found in possession of fake degrees. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is next in race while Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q)is last.
According to details, 13 of PML-N candidates have been holding fake degrees, while another 18 PML-N members have been challenged of holding fake degrees in different courts across the country. Seven of PPP candidates have been found guilty of holding fake degrees, while another 10 PPP members have been challenged of holding fake degrees in different courts across the country. PML-Q has only four members who been found guilty of possessing fake degrees.

Varsity Declares JUI MPA Kishore’s Degree Fake

Gomal University declared the BA degree of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly member Kishore Kumar as fake.
Kishore belonged to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. According to the report from Gomal University, Kishore appeared in BA exams in 1999 but failed in one paper. However, the varsity verified the degrees of Senator Prof Ibrahim, MPA Adnan Khan, female member Yasmin Bibi and MNA of FATA Kamran Khan, federal minister Maulana Ataur Rehman and MPA Sanaullah. Meanwhile, Chairman of standing committee for education Abid Sher Ali said that the parliament should be rid of the nuisance of fake degrees. He said that the universities involved in dishing out fake degrees should be identified.

Karachi: Tension Prevails In Shanti Nagar

The police have launched an operation against two drug clans in the area of Shanti Nagar. Fear and panic gripped the area as exchange of firing is being held between the law enforcement agencies and the gangsters.
Heavy contingents of Police and Rangers have cordoned off the Dalmia area. Gunshots could be heard at regular intervals from the area. Businesses and shops in the area have been closed. According to Police, a major offensive will be launched against drug dealers across the city.
