Police in Thailand are looking for someone who tried to use a remote controlled toy helicopter to smuggle mobile phones into the Khao Bin high-security prison in Ratchaburi province.
The helicopter crashed and was found in a plantation about 500 metres from the prison walls.
The toy helicopter was found with a cargo of seven mobile phones, four satellite phones, six SIM cards and eight mobile phone batteries.
Police said that the smuggled cargo would be worth around US$300,000 when sold to the high-ranking prisoners inside.
The prison’s officials had been warned that there would an attempt to smuggle in mobile phones, but it wasn’t confirmed if they expected a helicopter to be the method used.
